Were not just a people pub either. Not only are we dog friendly, we go out of our way to welcome your four legged friends. We even sell doggie ice-cream

It’s more than just great food and drink. We also have our fantastic music nights, with some of the best tribute acts in the country helping our patrons dance through the weekend evenings. We also have celebrations year round, from Christmas and Easter to special events like St Patrick’s Day, Mother’s day and Valentine’s day. With everything going on in the local area as well, visiting The Ship or even booking one of our fabulous rooms for an extended stay is guaranteed to please.

Fishing

The ship sits in an idyllic location overlooking the river Severn, right next to the Severn Valley Railway station at Highley. Local fishing is subject to purchasing day tickets.

There are individual lock ups for fishing tackle for each room at the pub alongside a communal bait fridge within the lock up building.

There are several other commercial fishing spots in the local area such Boldings Pools.

The Severn Valley Railway

The Severn Valley Railway system has been bewitching and entertaining visitors ever since the mid 60s, when it was saved from the scrap heap by a determined group of local rail enthusiasts.

Highley Station is one of the best stops on the line. Firstly, it is home to the Engine House, the railway’s must see Visitor Centre, where you can get up close and personal with marvellous locomotives of all sizes. And even better, the station is the shortest of walks way from the Ship Inn, where you can round off your trip with a drink and lunch or dinner.

The Severn Valley Country Park

An oasis of peace and tranquility on both sides of the river, the Severn Valley Country park is the perfect setting for a family day out. With children’s playgrounds; nature and adventure trails for walking a cycling; and even a couple of bird hides. The park is only a short drive to and from the Ship.

Canoeing

Hire a Canoe are a local company providing private canoe hire along the Severn. One of their popular routes is the run from Arley to Bewdley. Like us, they are happy to play host to families and dogs,

You could grab some food in the Ship and fortify yourself for the 4km, 90 minute journey back to Bewdley. Who knows maybe you might come back for a post trip celebratory drink with us.

Bridgnorth & Bewdley

Staying at the Ship Inn gives you the perfect chance to visit a couple of lovely local towns.

Historic Bridgnorth is beautiful, charming and well worth a visit. Made up of High Town and Low Town, connected by the steepest and oldest funicular railway in England, the town was once a busy river port.

Nowadays it’s a haven for visitors, with beautiful views, wonderful architecture and pleny to see and do.

Bewdley, to the south, is an attractive Georgian town which is the gateway to the Wyre Forest and the famous Arley Arboretum. Like Bridgnorth, Bewdley is one of the stops on the Severn Valley Railway.

Sunday Carvery

Join us for our traditional Ship Inn Carvery - generous portions, freshly roasted meats, and all your favourite trimmings with a choice of delicious desserts.

Staying with us
